Can I...?
  • Can you breed daughter back to father? I used to breed rabbits and this was acceptable lol!
  • In breeding doesn’t have any negative effects in the game. There’s just a lot of people that like even bred lines
  • @nikkel666
    Thank you for the info.

One more question. For axiom red, if I breed two parents with one copy of the gene, will I get a full axiom red foal? :)
  • If both sire and dam are heterozygous for Axiom Red, there is a 1 in 4 chance of the foal being homozygous Axiom Red, a 2 in 4 chance of heterozygous Red, and a 1 in 4 chance of no Axiom Red in the foal.

Here's a Punnett Square that I made to show the potential crosses for White1 when both sire and dam were heterozygous for that gene. The proportions will be the same whatever gene is being considered.

  • This doesn't mean that if you make the cross four times you will get 1 homozygous Red, 2 heterozygous Reds and 1 with no red. It means that for each time you make the cross, the odds of getting homozygous Red will be 1 in 4.

  • There is also a Punnett square that lives on the FAQ page: https://www.huntandjump.com/faq.php#877

  • Thanks for reminding me, Confluence.

  • Good to know. It’s something I never would have tried.
  • As far as inbreeding and even lines and getting the recessive genes you want to actually show, some of us end up breeding brothers and sisters that both inherited the gene from the same parent to get those genes. This filly is homozygous for snowflake because both of her parents have the same sire, my snowflake stud Aristo, so they're both heterozygous, and she got it from both of them, that 1 in 4 chance. It takes patience to get the horses you want this way, and you get a lot of hets in the mean time, but it does work.
