Pastures and embryo transfer
-
I would love to clarify something before I change things around at my stables. As far as I can tell, the best quality horses you can get from embryo transfer are from embryos implanted into recipient mares that are 30+ days in the pastures. Do the donor mares need to be in a pasture when they are pulled for maximum quality? Is there any benefit to keeping donor mares in pastures? Or should I fill my pastures with recipient mares? I was so excited to get my first batch of 3/4* sired embryo transfer foals today with my mares and got a lot of 14+ PTs and all passed SBA!
Thanks! -
Leave the surrogate mare in the pasture. The mare with the desirable genes, she can be wherever she likes

Thank you!
