heterozygous pearl foal for sale
  • Stallion all ready tested and ready to go. I already have a het pearl, in need of a good home. Offering at $45k If not sold by Wed will be sold back to former owner. http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3113728
  • You bought him for 5k two days ago....

45k is unrealistic for a 2G het pearl that tests the same paper level as sire, just in general, unless they have some other rare bling.

Trying to sell said horse for 10 times the original price is not only unrealistic, it will also get you a bad rap very quickly. Be careful not to be labeled as someone looking to make a quick buck by any means possible, and at anyone's expense - all those rare gene doors you are trying to open will be slammed shut very quickly that way.
  • Sorry Im not the best with prices. I aslo thought since he was het for pearl he would be higher priced. I will change it.
  • Without being completely tested? I'd say so. I would want to know a horse's PT if I was spending that much, and I'd want to know for sure what the genetics are. Some people are picky about a "good" foal having all the patterns of the parents (I'm that way on most lines) and I don't see frame there. So that would be a problem for me....I see her as "inferior" just based on missing that pattern. If I had bred her, she'd have likely been spayed and put into the show string, assuming her PT made it worthwhile to keep her.

I think part of the issue here is that I think maybe you're looking to "make a living" in game off of horse sales, and that just doesn't work here. Most people will check a horse's sale history, so flipping doesn't work, and we can all breed and most likely we all have our barns stuffed with yearlings, so they have to be really cheap or just really perfect for what we want for most people to consider them. Folks that have 200..500..or even 1k yearlings are rarely looking for anymore. :) Horses are more likely to sell as 3 or 4 year olds than yearlings just because people don't have to wait for them to be of use, either for showing or breeding.

A better strategy is to work at building up your show string and using them to make money. A good show horse can earn you over a 100k in it's lifetime, which is way more than you can sell it for.
