Since we no longer have an in-game tattoo creating tool, I have been exploring using Photoshop, which I've owned and used for many years. It's not very good for drawing lines, but it works for shape and letter tattoos like the one I made for Rutledge Ranch. I also do a search for images using Google, being careful to set the search for images that are free for public use and that don't require any source attribution (which there is NO room for in a tattoo :D ).

I generally begin working on the tattoo at a 100 x 100 pixel size. When I'm satisfied with the design, I shrink it to 25 x 25 pixels, the dimension that the game requires for a tattoo. However, the size of the image can be no larger than 15k and even at the tiny dimensions required, a design can take up more than that, so I next export it with the legacy "Save for Web" tool that Photoshop has. This shrinks it down, usually, to less than 2 or 3K.

I am always happy to create tattoos for other players, and charge 500hbs for one, unless it requires more work than normal.

Here's an example of the chinchilla tattoo that I made for myself using this technique, on the shoulder of my foundation stallion.
