Getting to know fellow players
-
I'm a bit of a nerd and I like knowing how people like their names to be pronounced. Since we have so many new players on this server, I thought this might be a fun way to learn something interesting about players, both new and old.How do you pronounce your username?
Is there special meaning or a story behind your name choice?
What language influenced your pronunciation?
To start us off, here's my little introduction:
My username is pronounced 'Mack-Zee', like the American Mack truck and the letter 'Z'.
It's a combination of part of my given name and the letter I was slightly obsessed with as a child. Though I didn't watch it, I was a bit obsessed with Zorro when I was young(mostly his horse). I even used some scraps of black fabric to make myself a cape and mask, used the trap pieces from the board game "mousetrap" as a sword, and pretended my Buckskin stick horse was a big black stallion; I called myself Zorita and wore my costume as often as I could! My obsession included 'branding' all of my toy horses, both plastic and plush, with sharpie Z's on their left hips. I still have some of my old favorites with little 'Z' brands. :-)
I apologize if this is in the wrong forum category... I wasn't sure what it would fit under.Post edited by MackZ at 2025-12-10 16:34:05 -
Very late to the discussion but just saw this!
My username is the name of my Icelandic horse (and two random numbers)! “Rindill” means “wren.” It’s pronounced exactly like it looks - rindill or rindull depending on your accent :) I tried for a while to breed a lookalike, but he’s a mostly-white tobiano and I haven’t gotten anywhere close to his actual pattern. He’s the bestest boy, and his name is unique enough that I can use it for my username pretty much everywhere! -
My username is pronounced Mah-ree-bo. It was the name of the property I lived at when I first joined the game. It used to be a common way to name properties here in Norway. It means " the place where Mari lives". My name is not Mari, but that was probably the name of the woman living there when it was built. We didn't even know the place had a name when we bought it, but the name was written in the concrete in the garage :)ID 195859

What a cool piece of personal history! Are you originally from Norway?

well, I think PrinceMaxxy doesn't have many pronunciation options :D
Maybe just Maxxy is like "Mah-xxy" or "Mah-xie" kinda? it's not that important
I have an internet persona/ pngtuber that is a prince and my name is Max
Even tho I am slavic, this name is obviously 100% english -
my user name is quite easy. Amber Valley Arabians. My horse prefix that i use is AVR. it stands for Amber Valley Ranch.
Amber Valley Ranch is the name of my actual ranch. I have bred cutting horses for a long time until I got ill. My last paint mare just passed this last June.
I also love Arabians. I have 2 of them and a OTTB rescue. I am planning on using one of my Arabs for endurance races this coming summer

Hi
I use Amber as my stable name on 2 of my stables ( Bluegrass and Mesa ). I am a huge fan of the book series The Chronicles of Amber and have read the entire series at least 20 times lol. I have thought about changing my stable to my stable name on the Forest server, but think it might be confusing. -
Hi, SRJohn, pronounced simply as ˈes-ˈär-ˈjän. S is from Sol which in Latin means Sun, one of the aliases i used back in high school; R comes from Reaper, from my mild obsession of anything death; and, John is more of a placeholder, like John Doe.

This is cute! My name is pronounced probably how it seems. Of Moosehorn.
It's a name I came up with when I was living in my old house for 12 years. The house was at the base of a little mountain called Moosehorn Mountain and it sure sounded better than the road I lived on, which was called Butts Hill. :)) -
Oh man, OfButtsHillRoad would be hilarious! :-DPost edited by MackZ at 2025-12-22 20:04:33Might be addicted to pixel ponies...

My stable name is pronounced as the separate letters so A Pea Pea and studs for A Pagan Place. It is a two fold reason.
The first is, it's part of the name of my amazing TB mare, Pagan Verge (the bay mare in my Avatar). She was bought to be purely a brood mare and did give me two lovely foals, but on the way to being a brood mare was multi registered with multiple breed and performance registers. She was a successful dressage and show horse who also competed in working stock horse events, did cattle mustering and was quiet enough to go for a quiet ride through the outskirts of Sydney's CBD. We did actually ride to NSW Parliment house for ceremonial ocassions. We were also part of the opening ceremony for the Sydney Olympics in 2000. That was our last ride together. She retired after that.
The second reason, is the the name of one of my all time Favourite albums, A Pagan Place by the Waterboys. This was their second album and it was released in 1984 (yes I'm old). I would recomend it to anyone wanting to listen something quite different. -
My user name is pronounced Hum-bolt.
It was where I lived when I first started playing - Humboldt County in California. Some of my breed names are derived from the area as well.
