Oh, that's been made much simpler now!
Go to the page of any non-primary barn or pasture you own; select the blue and white pen button beside the barn/pasture name (above the list of horse names, but below the list of barn/pasture links); a box will pop up with the words "Edit Barn Name"; enter your preferred name in the text field and select the "Update Barn Name" button at the bottom of the box.
That's it!
