@Ammit
Futurities are a mess on bluegrass and being propped up by a very small number of players.
what do you mean by this?
could you explain further.
thank you273933

@leefe she means that we have less than 10 futurity players. alot of them breed then auction off the foals without locking.
i catch a few unlocked foals here and there every time i look into the auctions, and im not there every day.
we have an average of 5-8 players that sign up for the futurity each month. currently 1 new player signed up -
@Ambervalleyarabians Thank you, I did not realize that there were less then 10 that Participate. I breed my 50 every time.
And I also have noticed that futurity foals have been in the auction.
i maybe don't understand why anyone would sell them they are a chance to get gmt tokens.
How can we fix this.
i sell straws and live covers also embryos to all of my studs.
i do not have a breeding partner and I am a one-man band here.
any ideas?

yes, i know you do, and i appreciate it!
i am not sure if everyone understands how the futurity works, especially with the newcomers or older players that have returned.
you are more than welcome to add me as a breeding partner!
i think i will put out a message in the forum regarding the futurity.
im also afraid that the players who have won a barn might not want to sign up for the monthly contest. annismyrph suggested possible gmts. what are your thoughts?
-
I do still participate in futurity, but haven't signed up for the contest itself because I won in August and didn't want to clog the thread. (And I still do 50+ foals, the primary reason it's been not appreciably more than 50 lately is because I've had a really rough few months.)
I have noticed it's felt harder to get trades for Eras that aren't the most recent two, and even offering to buy back offspring if the stallion doesn't place hasn't seemed to help.
(I've also stopped keeping more than 1 or occasionally 2 studs for anything but the most recent Eras, since it's been hard to get them qualified.)Post edited by Aidendale at 2025-10-17 13:55:31 -
@aidendale, is there anything i can do to help with the interest for you?
i do see that you do breeding, and i appreciate that. i also try to
i was running through some ideas to have previous winners to win something again, maybe some gmts? im up for suggestions to make this better and more fun -
@ammit, maybe a suggestion on the chimera club. i know it is hard to get chimera horses, ive noticed that it is harder than it used to be. is there a way that we can revamp this club to be easier to achieve?
-
I split off these posts because they were getting rather off topic.
Right now the chimera club is not in need of any help and is having no issues running.
ETA: From the original post: "Color clubs are not up for merging but I felt it would be helpful for members to see which clubs are smaller and might be easier to win awards in."Post edited by Ammit at 2025-10-17 22:52:06Need to contact me? Read this first.

I have switched a lot of my breeding goals to play in futurities. I can barely keep up with breeding and sorting my even lined/color lines. I have enjoyed breeding new Eras and working towards leaderboard contenders- it has been challenging but I like the challenge.
I still haven't won a barn from Team 50 but I keep trying lol. -
I'm definitely as interested as ever in futurities, it's just been a combination of a really rough patch elsewhere and struggling to get interest in or trades for my stallions, even knowing they're studs who will do well (and with offering buybacks if they don't so it won't have been a waste of time/money for the person who bred to them). Visions was kind enough last month to DM me for trades, otherwise a lot of mine wouldn't have stayed qualified.
I'm just not sure what to do that won't turn annoying, I don't want to be making a bunch of posts or spamming the Discord. I really do *like* futurity , and I've been doing well since embracing it, it just feels like after the initial excitement for Team 50, things have tapered off and become a struggle again outside of the most recent Eras or the occasional scramble to get new stallions on boards that are short. -
I believe Fiddler and Ambervalley breed largely to each other's studs to get as many studs on the boards as they have. Having a regular breeding partner seems like a good strategy.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I also breed to alot of others as well. I just bred about 200 foals for the newer players. I will breed more once I come back into state
I am also more than willing to be a breeding partner for others! -
I would be happy to partner with someone who is doing boosted studs. I stopped participating because I found finding stallions I wanted to use for show horses too difficult.FogveilFarm #262594Home of Mistwalker Warmblood and Sport Ponies - Top Tier Agouti Promoter Breed

I'd be delighted to partner with someone, if anyone happened to be interested. I'm at a point where I usually have 15-20 studs to qualify, outside of the two newest Eras (where I tend to have about 3 each generation).
Not *all* of my studs are boosted, since with the current state of things they haven't all needed to be, but a good chunk are. -
you both can add me. i have boosted and double boosted. i also take non boosted, even down to foundations as well. im not picky id 271541Post edited by Ambervalleyarabians at 2025-10-19 13:20:26Thanked by 1Aidendale

I was doing the Futurities, but found that I just didnt have the time, space or the game money to keep up. I may have two or three days completely devoted to breeding in a month and the Futurities pay out just wasn't worth (to me not the game this has nothing to do with the game) me loosing some very long term lines. Breeding for what you like as long as it fits the Futurities is successful, if you don't breed something that fits the Futurities ... for me ... was not successful. If there is a call out, and not enough studs have been put up I will try and dig out what I can find, but to actually chase the board ... I just, outside of the game, dont have the time or the big build up of hbs/barns for the AI breeding. Maybe when the boards get smaller I might look into it again ...
I did try the Era breeding, but the race to highest PT just isn't for me when you only get so many breeding days and you have to stay right on top of those. I was chasing a couple of other colour/pattern boards, but found that the race to the highest PT was also bleeding into those boards, so I went back to just breeding for what I like.
I am glad that the Chimera club is okay as that is the only one that I really still get excited about. Very few of my Chimeras are university (I tried it once, wasn't worth it ... to me) and I like watching which of my Chimera boys is producing Chimeras ... so far Accomplishments of Like Minded People have been some of my best Chimera throwers. Sorry didn't mean to off topic ... but saw the little dot on the club and was glad someone asked about it. -
I have similar sentiments to @Corvus (and others). I do enjoy Futurity. I joined the Chimeras and All the Brindles public chat room and made friends there. We coordinate with each other about swapping straws for Futurity. However, like Corvus said, Futurity takes up sooo much time and hbs each month. While I've been playing for many years, my game bank account isn't overflowing every day. I don't have seemingly endless barn/pasture space, and don't have to purchase IVs all the time to keep from losing incoming hbs. (Hopefully one day I'll be there, but not yet.) I'm lucky enough to get some help from my new in-game friends, and I'm also lucky enough to be able to spend extra real $ here and there on top of my monthly subscriptions. But I know that's not the case for many players.
In terms of the Futurity leaderboards, I don't pay a huge amount of attention to them for myself. I use them to try to look for other studs to use for Futurity foals. I gave up a while ago on trying to focus on my personal breeding goals with Futurity foals because that's just not that doable. And really, Futurity is focused on showing at its core. I do sometimes auction off or sell Futurity foals, but they have all been Futurity locked, so they stay in my barns until someone else buys them. While I'm sure merging some Futurity eras will mix up the pot quite a bit, I'm not too anxious about it in terms of my standings. Like @Fiddler said on the original post, it's a little surprising to see which Futurity eras are in bad shape, as many of the ones that most of my horses are in (though I know I am but one player with a modestly sized herd).
Slightly off-topic - Another feature I wish I could really utilize is the Affiliated Breeders. I do technically have a second breed besides my default one. But 99.9% of my existing horses and lines are through my default breed. I could work towards building up my second breed to be able to share it with other players. But it'll be many months until that's possible and worthwhile to anyone. I understand that there are reasons for not allowing that feature on default breeds, but it's a bummer for me, personally. I would love to be able to connect with more players this way. -
I appreciate you so much, @Ambervalleyarabians, thank you!!
A little over a year ago, while I was still almost entirely just doing my own thing, I was winning a little handful of gmts (more on months when the 28th fell early in the week). I was also well under 500k daily bonus. My income went to IVs not so I wouldn't cap, but to convert to gmts so that I could max and keep any chimeric foals I happened to breed. If there was a gmt lab sale, I'd do a really hard cull to get hbs to make into IVs to gmts to fund a new stallion or two to replace ones who were aging out (and kill my daily bonus in the process).
I would boost only occasionally, for my own purposes, and I was very much breeding and playing in my own little sandbox, because I'm incredibly shy. I had done a little bit of futurity starting last summer just to help out, but after the advent of the Discord server and seeing discussions there about how it worked (and eras in general), I started looking into it more and more actively offering stallions, and made some little changes here and there to what I was doing, paying a little more attention to my eras, keeping fewer of my own show foals so I'd have room for futurity foals, etc. I saw results very, very quickly, and within 6 months I was no longer having to spend my hbs on IVs to make into gmts just to keep my chimeras intact. I'll even merge sometimes now, if I need a chimera and the RNG isn't cooperating, and I can spend my IVs on boosts or even clones if I want.
Last December I decided to play with the new era when 18 started, and didn't put a lot into it - just a few RS stallions (two with small tweaks but nothing fancy) and mares from that month's dailies. I actually ended up really enjoying myself, and now, even though my lines from that project are fully non-chimeric and only have fancy genes from where I bred to other people's stallions, I'm attached to them anyway.
By the time the next new era rolled around, I'd been doing well enough to make my new stallions fancy if I wanted, and the two primary ones were also made as replacements for stallions who were aging out - so I'm breeding for Era 19, but they're also two of my chimeric pasture stallions now. This December, I'll do the same, since my other two chimeric boys will be aging out. (I know, it's a lot of foundation stallions, but I like having the variety in my lines.)
I still kind of live in my own little hole and don't do a lot of chatting or socializing for anxiety and spoon reasons, but with Discord it's a little easier if I'm in a headspace when I can. But even doing what I've done quietly (and with limited time), this is the kind of progress I've made:
Year 144: 9 gmts
Year 145: 12 gmts
Year 146: 23 gmts
Year 147: 8 gmts
Year 148: 23 gmts
Year 149 : 84 gmts
Year 150: 31 gmts
Year 151: 61 gmts
Year 152: 188 gmts
Year 153: 362 gmts
Year 154: 113 gmts
Year 155: 285 gmts
Year 156: 414 gmts
Year 157: 155 gmts
Year 158: 346 gmts
Year 159: 453 gmts
Year 160: 187 gmts
And this week I should break an 800k daily bonus. The tl;dr is that eventually, playing with eras and futurities does start to fund itself (and then some). Even just a little shift and a little change can make a difference, then it can snowball from there.
Granted, it's not for everyone either way, but I'm still surprised at how quickly I started to do well.
As far as breeds, I really didn't bother until fairly recently, since I always preferred drafts, but as more BCs have come out and I now have warmbloods and ponies, I finally separated them out. Over time, I'll mostly phase out my "default" breed.Thanked by 1cinnabae
