Futurity issues and questions/answers
  • i have seen alot of players breeding to stallions that are not their own, and having foals that are eligible to win in futurities.

i also see these same foals in auctions. i have picked up these foals and a majority are winners once they turn 5 yrs old

does everyone know how the futurities work and their potential benefits?

does anyone have any questions on how it works and how to succeed?

we do have a monthly contest to win a 250 stall barn.

  • I think I understand how they work. I simply don't believe I would ever be able to succeed and win anything that would make it worth it for me. I'm a single mom with one child in competition dance and one in horse shows. I can't spend real monies on what is essentially thin air. Which means I can't compete with the players who can. Breeding 50 foals every month to outsourced studs and never winning means I would never have room to breed my own studs.
  • i certainly can help!

you wont need to spend any real money. its all hb based

the best strategy is pick 5 good stallions of whatever era you would like and breed just 10 mares to each.

the highest pt, and youngest stallion possible will add to your chances. breed your best mares to them. lock the foals and add them to the monthly forum post. and repeat with those stallions each month.

i will personally give you 100k hbs just for locking foals, and adding your name to the contest to win a 250 stall barn

another way is to list a stallion or two. open them up for breeding and/or put straws up for sale. others, including me, will breed to them and get you pushed up the boards.

it can take up to 4 or 5 months to get going. but it is very rewarding!

i can help with things if you need. it is frustrating sometimes when starting or restarting an acct

  • There is actually pretty good odds at winning at futurities, just don't miss any showing opportunities so foals get the all the points they can. You also don't need to do 50 foals, just do 10 or 20. I'd choose higher papered stallions for a chance at earning more points

  • I thought horses had to be bred by me in order to win?
  • these are to give you some gmts at the end of the month. you can buy other futurity horses that people are selling or auctioning and potentially win gmts

in order to win your own barn, yes they need to be bred and owned by you.

you can pick up the show ponies as well. along with gmts winnings, they will bring you in some good monthly income

  • Oh okay. I was confused. Thanks!
  • How do I tell if a horse is futurity eligible or not when looking for sale horses?
  • Its not easy, but you kinda get used to knowing how people name their horses.

i would look at horses under 5 or 6. the easiest is to do a search on locked horses. cinnabae puts out some of hers now and then.

the harder way is to look at each horse. compare who owns the stallion to who bred the foal.

this would be a foal example of what you would look for. if you look at the foal, i bred and currently own the foal. the stallion belongs to someone else.

the foal's era is the same as the stallion's. this foal will be qualified
