Under 10 yrs please, medium size, generation 2
Need a mare (or two) and a stud.
Thank you
Will also consider straws or gender swapPost edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-03-02 01:50:07 -
I have a this mare but het for Sno. She is het for Prl.
LC2 Cider Divided
I could offer you straws from this guy. He is het Sno, het Prl as well.
LC2 Harvest Moon -
is it the sno that produces the large spots?
-
Snowflake isnt what produces large spot appies ; there are several genes involved for that including Dp, Appaloosa Spot regulator , possibly Halo, and some others
what exactly are you looking for ?Thanked by 1OopsDotCom -
No, I was just curious. I'm looking for sno sno, a stallion would be nice. My stud has pretty pathetic stats. And out of curiosity, do you have any sno that shows the effect? Mine are all het, so I haven't seen anything unusual in color and pattern and design. If you have a nice mare (or stud), maybe I could get you to change gender for me.
-
I breed for snowflake , so yes i have both mares and stallions ; just as an FYI its 15 GMT for het snow on foundations and 30 GMT's for HOM snowflake on foundations ; its not a "cheap" process
any 2g HOM snowflakes would not be leaving my barns lol , what generation are you looking for ?
this is a "no blanket" app that is 4g hom snowflake
LG4 Nimbus HSN 15133422
this is a large blanket HOM snowflake 4g :
LG4 Rake HSN 15133608
as you can see the snowflake gives white "flecks" to the colored part of the body but has nothing to do with the size of the appy spots in the blanket
-
I had been hoping for a 2 G myself, but a G3 or G4 i would take straws as they can be held until my other horses mature and get bred, is that logical or stupid?
-
your best bet is to breed your 2g het's and only keep the 3g HOM's that they throw.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom
-
What are the odds of just hiring him to breed to my g2's? I doubt that the foal would be better than sire, though. My mares are all pretty low in stats.
-
are they red or B papered ? I dont know what you mean by "Stats"?Thanked by 1OopsDotCom
-
(just looking for more possibilities to study, and compare cost and efficiently)
-
Oh by stats I look at pt, paper, genes (I'm weak in that though), generations, how much longer are they likely to live, average foal score. I'm never sure whether I am looking at information I need or just information it would be nice to have. As for paper, I try to neuter any yellow, but my leopards seem to like to show up yellow. And since I can't predict from the foal how it will do, I'm afraid it gets pretty automatically neutered or auctioned.
-
15 for het sno, 30 for hom Snow
what if the horse already is het snow? -
Are you looking for sno the cream gene or snowflake, the appy gene?Thanked by 1OopsDotCom
-
The one that's in the cr/Prl , I think that's the cream one. I don't think I've seen an appy with a snowflake.
-
the 2 I posted are Snowflake appys .......Thanked by 1OopsDotCom
-
Searched for snow/snow to see what it looks like, and none of the ones that turned up showed anything different than the rest who didn't have snow.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-02-21 21:51:44

"Snowflake" doesn't appear in the horse's color name so you have to search using the dropdown menus under the white markings tab like in this search:
https://www.huntandjump.com/adv_search.php?runsearch=go&jump=0&40=1&114=2&115=1&128=0&129=0
Also, snowflake varnish will only show when it's homozygous and the horse also has at least one copy of appaloosa.
Just a note to clarify: snowflake varnish is completely different from snowdrop pearl. And in case the large spots you were asking about were the ones on Harvest Moon posted above, that's not appy, that's phantom apples. -
Thank you for explaining. I looked at the link, there are a lot of white horses that show up lol.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-02-22 15:28:32

Ha! Yes, there are a lot of white horses at the beginning of appy searches because the oldest ones show first and they're all pretty much varnished out. I often skip to the end and start browsing backwards to see the younger horses first.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

Here's one of my best examples of snowflake. You can see the little white splotches all over. Those will get larger as he ages, until he's completely white.

Aww he's scrumptious.
Now that I can see what snowflake does, what does Sno do? I've got a few but if no pattern is going to show, I might as well sell.

Sno reacts the same as Pearl ; there will be no "pattern"Thanked by 1OopsDotCom
-
Snowdrop (sno) creates a creamy pearl like color on the coat. Similar to Pearl and Sunshine (sun).
The spots on my stud are from Phantom Apple
LC2 Harvest MoonThanked by 1OopsDotCom -
See, this is your stud. He also has the Apples which make those spots. He is het Sno, which by itself doesn't change the coat color. When combined with cream, pearl, snowdrop or sunshine, you end up with the pearl coat color.

Ahh, Thank you.
I just now got unenthusiastic about breeding sno lol. Looks like what I actually wanted was snowflake. Didn't realize they were two totally different effects. I'll have to see what i can accomplish.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-02-22 15:28:58 -
I have some stallions up for breeding if you need a stud for your mares xx
