Reregistering a horse?

hello all,
I was going through my studs, trying to weed some of the lesser used ones out to make more room for pretty babies and I noticed that one of the stallions had a register button underneath the "sell back to game/auction this horse" buttons on the control tab. I clicked it, then it said it would cost 3000 hbs to re-register to horse and I was wondering if there was any benefit to this or if it's something that I can just ignore?

You can ignore it, it just puts you as the breeder as the original breeder must have left the game
