      • You can spell out HGG 2025 in powdered sugar.
      • The specific way you provide proof that you made these for this event is unimportant, just that you show you actually did make the cookies.

    • Limit of one recipe post per server per player.
    • If you have multiple accounts please only post on one of them.
    • You can post on multiple servers but please provide a unique recipe and photo for each server.

  • In honor of the game, I made Butterscotch Haystack Cookies!
I was given this recipe 20 years ago in a workplace cookie exchange.

    image

1 - 5 oz can of crunchy Chinese noodles
1 - 11 oz bag of butterscotch chips
    1/2 cup of salted peanuts
OR a pinch of salt for those who cannot have nuts
    Sprinkles optional

Melt the chips in a double boiler or in the microwave. If using the microwave, use 30-second intervals, stirring well between each until melted.

    Fold in noodles and peanuts.

On a wax paper lined cookie sheet, drop cookies using a spoon. While still maliable, add sprinkles. Put in the refrigerator for a half hour until set.

    Yields 2 dozen.

I made these today for our church Christmas Bazaar on Saturday.

  • Well I decided to try an untested recipe off the internet… and despite thinking this recipe didn’t seem right stuck with the instructions as in the past I have messed up second guessing new recipes. No the recipe doesn’t work, it burnt out the mixer as the liquid to dry was massively off. So new mixer ordered… recipe will be adjusted to what I think it should be not what the original says and I will try again. Hubby has to wait to do his cookies too as the mixer went poof. But we will make cookies! lol

  • Brownie Cupcakes

    1/4 cup water
    1/2 cup melted butter
    2 eggs
Boxed Brownie mix (I used the dark chocolate mix by Betty Crocker)

    Preheat oven to 350°F
Combine all ingredients and divide into twelve lightly greased muffin tin wells.
Bake for 28-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of brownies comes out almost clean. Allow brownies to cool slightly before removing from tins and transferring to cooling rack.

    Optional:
    Chocolate chips or chunks
Vanilla extract or other alcohol-based flavors (I added a splash of Vanilla extract, Kahlua, and Amaretto)
Frosting or whipped cream as topping

  • These a a very quick and easy snack that are both sweet and savoury. measure with your heart. There are so many different ways to tweak this.

I found this recipe on Instagram

    You need:

Coco Pops (or Choco Krispis, Choco Krispies, Coco Pops, Choco Pops depending on region)
Dessicated coconut or sprinkles. I used dessicated coconut.
    Dark chocolate melts
mini jatz (or ritz crackers). I used mini jatz with sea salt.

Spread coco pops in a baking dish.
    Lightly sprinkle coconut over top.
Place chocolate buttons on top of cocopops and melt in low temp oven until chocolate is melted.
Place mini jatz in top of chocolate and lightly press down. Place in refrigerator until cool

  • @Visions,

I'm wanting to try your recipe, but I am unable to source butterscotch chips. Do you think peanut butter chips would work?

Maybe I could use white chocolate and add butterscotch essence to it? Hmmm

  • Brownies are by far my favorite dessert! I've tried lots of different recipes but lately I've used a basic recipe and added my own things to it.

https://gimmedelicious.com/easy-one-bowl-fudgy-cocoa-brownies/#wprm-recipe-container-13196 This is my base recipe I normally use.

    Ingredients:
▢1/2 cup butter, or oil (I use salted butter!)
▢1 cup sugar (For this batch I did half brown sugar, not packed, just spooned into measuring cup, and half white sugar)
    ▢1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    ▢2 large eggs
    ▢1 teaspoon vanilla
    ▢1/4 cup flour
▢1/4 tsp salt (I still put this in even if i use salted butter becuase I like how it complements the chocolate, but feel free to skip this if you use salted butter)
▢1/2 cup favorite adds-ins (I didn't add anything in the batter, but I did spread melted chocolate chips on top. My favorite is to swirl some melted peanut butter in before baking, but my hubby isn't a fan of chocolate/PB combo so I omitted it this time since I was sharing while he's working from home this month)

    image

Just a lil update: I put these in the fridge covered with plastic wrap and they are STILL SO fudgy a day later, I almost prefer it chilled to the warm fresh from the oven slice I had

  • I made kgstable's brownies. They are so fantastically fudgy and gooey, just how I like them!
I lightly dusted mine with powdered sugar so they would pop better on camera, but the only thing I added to the recipe was dark chocolate chips. I'm going to take these to our weekly family dinner tomorrow night. :-)

  • I made a brownie cookie, based off the recipe on this website: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/222721/easy-brownie-mix-cookies/

    Recipe:
1 (18.3 ounce) package brownie mix
    1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour, or more as needed
    2 large eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
    1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

    Preheat oven to 350.
Mix all ingredients, fold in chocolate chips. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and drop dough 2 inches apart. Cookies should be on the middle rack. Bake for 10 minutes.

I added some chocolate frosting with sprinkles to a few, but they really didn't need them.

(I have no idea why the picture showed up so large, I'm doing all this from my phone which complicates things)

  • I made these delicious peanut butter marshmallow cookies today and I’m obsessed! Peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwiches are a favorite of mine and these cookies sounded too good not to try. I found the recipe in this site: https://simpledesserts.com/marshmallow-cookies/

    Recipe:

    INGREDIENTS

    1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    ½ teaspoon kosher salt
    ½ cup unsalted butter softened
    1 cup granulated sugar
    ½ cup creamy peanut butter
    1 large egg
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 cup mini marshmallows (frozen)

    INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, use an electric mixer to mix together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the peanut butter, egg, and vanilla extract and beat until well combined.

Mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Then, fold in the frozen mini marshmallows.

Using a cookie scoop to drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

    ——

I used vegan marshmallows because they are the *chefs kiss* of marshmallows. I also did a half cup of granulated sugar and a half cup of brown sugar instead of a full cup of granulated sugar because…why not? lol. Brown sugar is the best.

    IMG-0353

I have no idea why the image is not working. I’m trying to troubleshoot it.

    Cake mix cookies!

Cake mix cookies are some of my favorites because they’re so easy. Just 3 ingredients, throw them together, and put them in the oven.

Mine are gluten free and the chocolate chips are allergy friendly, but you can do anything you want!

    1 box cake mix
    1/2 cup oil or butter
    2 eggs
+ whatever mix ins your heart desires :)

Mix it together, bake in the oven at 350 for 9-15 minutes.

    Note:
Cake mixes do vary by size from brand to brand. My gluten free cake mix was 22oz so it was much too dry with just a 1/2 cup of butter. Ultimately, I added a bit too much which is why they spread out so much. They’re still super tasty though! :)

Edit: I’m also having photo posting issues. Going to try to sort it out. Here’s a link in the meantime https://imgur.com/a/pG3B3pp

    Edit again:
Did they change Imgur? Apparently I don’t now how to post images anymore

    Edit:
Thank you blucrystals! My images are fixed now! Anyone else having issues, try opening Imgur in a browser instead of the app

  • Both of you are using the webpage URL not the image URL which is why you can't use the image tag. If you look at what you copied it does not end in .jpeg, .png or .gif which means it will never be able to show as an embedded image.

Just posting the webpage url without the image tag is fine though.

  • Not cookies, but we DID make sourdough! I'm generally not involved much in kitchen-things, but I participated in the creation of our last couple rounds of bread, partially against my will. XD
(I don't really have the patience for something that's like "yes, do the stretching, then leave it alone for a while, then do it again" repeatedly, and neither does my husband, but it's worth it for bread the kids both can & will eat!)
    image

I failed to take a picture when we took the bread out, and by the time I got home the next day, it was half gone, whoops.

This is the video used as general guidelines/directions: How to Make the Best Sourdough Sandwich Bread
And a summary, for those of you (like me) who believe that a video is a terrible recipe:
    Tools-
    big bowl
    scale
a mixing tool (she uses a spoon and some shiny scrapers, we just use a spoon)
    two bread pans
    towel

    Ingredients -
    sourdough starter (use 300g)
    water (650g)
    olive oil (50g)
honey (40g) - we substitute sugar (kiddo1 has issues with honey)
    salt (20g)
    bread flour (1000g)

    Steps-
    mix the water & starter
    add the other stuff
get it all nice and mixed, then cover with a damp cloth & let sit in a warm place for like a half-hour
come back, stretch & fold, cover it, and leave it for another half-hour (do this 3 more times); add flour if the spirit moves you (and it's too sticky) during any of these stretch-and-fold sessions
let it sit for THREE HOURS (covered with a damp cloth in a warm place again) (or if you didn't start until too late and OH JEEZ it's already 9PM, cover it & leave it in the fridge overnight XD)
grease bread pans, fold the dough into a ball, divide it in half & put it in the pans
cover them and leave them for a couple more hours - seriously, sourdough is not a fast thing
bake at 400 for like 30 minutes
pull them out of the oven & the pans, and oil them (she does butter, but kiddo1 can't do dairy, so we stick with more olive oil)
LEAVE them.. for at least another hour... before cutting into them (otherwise it's likely to be all gummy and sticky)

  • So I made these a couple weeks ago to take to work, but life has been exhausting so I'm only just getting around to posting. I hope it's okay that the date doesn't match as a result.

I made peppermint brownie cookies, using this recipe as a base:
    https://www.soulfullymade.com/peppermint-brownie-mix-cookies/

Some changes were involved because I either didn't have or couldn't find everything I needed! So I used melted butter instead of vegetable oil (same amount), and had to add baking powder because of course I bought a mix that didn't have it. I wanted the cookies themselves to be a little minty, so I crushed 3 of my peppermints very fine to mix into the batter; I also used white chocolate chips instead of regular chocolate chips (I definitely recommend semisweet, white was okay but not ideal).

My store didn't have Andes mints, so I couldn't melt those to dip the cookies in, unfortunately. Instead, when the cookies had just a few more minutes of baking left, I took them out and sprinkled crushed peppermints on them (so that they would melt a little but not *too* much).

  • We attempted sugar cookies, cause my son wanted to decorate. Me and cookies from scratch do not mix, so forewarned, they are closer to resembling Halloween treats. I either over bake or I may not mix as good as I should. (Or vs)

2nd picture was after decorating. :D

    Good Ol Sugar Cookies
    Ingredients
    2 cups white sugar
    1 ½ cups butter, softened
    4 large eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    5 cups all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt

    Directions
    Gather all ingredients.
Beat sugar and softened butter together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth.
Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least 1 hour (or overnight).
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly dust a work surface with flour. Roll out dough to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness.
Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.

    Recipe Tip from online
Line sheets with parchment paper, or use a silicone baking mat if preferred.

Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are lightly browned, 6 to 8 minutes. Carefully transfer cookies to a wire rack and cool completely before decorating.

  • I'm not much of a baker, but I make this for a Sunday school class party.

    Gingerbread cake
Start a box of spice cake mix, follow directions on the box, plus add in 1-2 teaspoon each of ginger, cinnamon, and cloves, and 1 half cup of molasses. Once baked and cooled, sprinkle with powdered sugar.

  • I made the Sunprint cookies! I used the recipe on the Herd Helper description. I used pumpkin for the "sweet winter squash" and a combination of corn flour and blended GF rice flour, as well as a rasberry+blueberry mixed jam for the filling.

Again, no cinna(mon) or Old Ba(e) were used in the recipe.

  • This is a recipe I worked out when I ran out of spelt and wheat for a few months this summer. They're simple, quick, and I think tastier than all purpose flour sugar cookies! You can buy rice flour already ground (Bob's Red Mill was always a favorite of mine) or grind it yourself if you have a mill. I made these with my own stone-ground white basmati rice flour.

    Rice Flour Sugar Cookies

    1 cup rice flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 tsp baking powder
    1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted ghee (or butter)
    1/4 cup water
1 egg (or 3 quail eggs)
Optional: 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice and or vanilla extract

    1. Mix rice flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar (and optional pumpkin pie spice) in a medium bowl.

    2. In a small bowl, whip together melted ghee or butter, egg(s), and water (and optional vanilla).

    3. Combine liquids into the flour mixture to create a loose dough or stiff batter.

    4. On a parchment paper lined baking sheet, dollop mixture by the spoonful and smooth each into a circle with the back of the spoon.

    5. Bake at 375° F for 16 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.

    6. Let set for a minute before transferring to plate or cooling rack, then enjoy!
