I haven't told anyone in my personal IRL life yet (You know, don't count your chickens before they hatch), but I've applied to go back to school! I currently hold an associates in Culinary Arts. I loved the program, and I learned a ton, but I haven't enjoyed baking in my professional life like I had thought I would. I've been putting off going back to school because quite honestly, I've been comfortable working a nice job that just challenging enough to keep me busy at work and never busy enough to stop having lazy time.
But it's not what I want to do long term.
What I really want to do is teach! I've applied to an Art Studies degree with the hopes of being certified as a teacher to teach Middle school or High school art classes. I feel like right now the dream is so far away from achieving since I haven't even gotten accepted yet but I'm still excited and that's how I know it's the right choice. The degree path I've chosen also requires higher than normal transfer requirements, so I'm slightly worried something will go wrong (as I often do with Anxiety) but trusting my past self did what I needed to without even knowing!
I'm nervous about going into a field where I don't know anyone and going into a work field where I'm slightly older than the average starting out. I've been graduated with an associates for 3 years, so I feel three years behind. But everyone always says, it's never too late. So, I'm putting hope in that and taking one step at a time.
Wish me luck everyone! I will post updates as I get them if anyone is interested.

It is never too late! I didn't go to university, but always wondered whether I was 'clever' enough to get a degree. In my late forties I started studying with the Open University and graduated with a degree at the age of 55. :) I have, also, always wanted to learn to play the piano. Last year, at the age of 69, I started taking lessons with a very kind patient piano teacher and I'm making slow, but very satisfactory progress, and I'm loving it.
I say, go for it. Age is no barrier to trying something new. :DThanked by 1kgstable -
