Explain the pangare gene
-
Hi, I don't know if this was already answered before, but could someone more knowledgeable explain to me how does the pangare gene work since I couldn't find any information about it in the genetics guide. I love the lighter belly that (i suppose?) it causes.
What allele combination would be the best to focus on while breeding? What does the + do? What's the difference between P/P and P/+?
Thank you in advance for anyone who could enlighten me a bit :) -
Yep, Pangare causes a lighter, creamy underbelly and nose. It’s also referred to as mealy sometimes in real life. I adore Pangare. It only modifies red pigment (so chestnut and bays/browns). P is dominant, so a horse will have some of the cream/mealy coloring compared to p/p. P+ is basically a more intense version of the dominant gene. So intense it will show up on black horses.
P/P on bay. Some mealy underbelly and nose but not super intense.
SSH Agitated
P/P on black base. No mealy nose.
3 Keep Blackberries
+/+ on liver chestnut. Much more mealy underbelly and nose.
3a14 Shiny Penny
P/+ on liver chestnut.
19912303
p/+ on liver chestnut
3 Three Strikes
I personally love +/+ horses. Ooh, and here is one +/+ on a black base:
