I really do have good news. I have made some allusions to it, but not directly said before, that things needed to go well with some work with HAJ or the game would be on the end of life track. In other-words if membership enthusiasm and interest did not pick up with new updates then it would be time to end all work on the game and just let it sit. (As I unfortunately had to do with WHG and Hue Horse as there was not enough people on it to justify working them). It is totally normal for games to hit an end of life point and for support to end on them. Heck HAJ is almost as old as Windows XP and not even Microsoft supports code that old anymore even with millions still using it.

But the great news is not only did the updates work very well but worked much better then we expected. That showed us that HAJ is still worth putting work into. The timing has worked out great too. Haystack's job with the other game is done with its big push and he has a big time slot empty right now. (He went from 50+ hours a week on it and is now only do 10/15 hours a week with it) That means all the rest of his time is going to us! Haystack is a much better programer and UI designer then I am. You can thank him for basically every slick JavaScript part of the game from the no page reload testing the tattoo maker the horse pages etc. (You can also thank him for the pasture breeding idea) Starting in the next few days here he is going to be sitting down and making a master plan to update clean up and otherwise shape up the site. I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

No public breeding to pastured horses.
No breeding lab breeding of pastured mares.
-Stallions can have straws pulled
-Sales of straws/embryos etc are not effected.
Auto show is now explicitly excluding pastured horses


It has been decided that the longer mares are left in the pasture the better their odds of producing non-dud foals. Foals born in pastures will not be any better then normally produced foals but it will take much fewer tries to get keepers out of them. So if you want to pasture breed this year get those horses in the pasture asap.

-Normal breeding rules apply. No money, lethal foal, to many mares for one stud? Foal won't show up. That is NOT a bug please do not report it as such. ;-)
-Foals do not have any images or colors until you look at them for the first time. Again not a bug. How can you know what color a foal is if no one has even looked at it before. :-P

Here is the reason!



We had three baby girls born on our farm this week. Wednesday I had to finish getting everything ready for them. Thursday was spent helping with the birth, and Friday and Sat was spent in a mix of catching up on sleep and some vital fencing repairs/buying feed that needed to be done. But I am back at the grind stone and will be going over all your posts and issues and fixing those lost pasture/stall count bugs.

Baby 1 is sold and already at her new home. Baby two is named Melody and baby three is named River. Anyone have suggestions of registered names? -The more a horse shows and does well the more prestigious it would become.
-Horses earn income for your barn every week based on how prestigious they are. An old retired stud who used to show really well still brings valuable business into your barn just like real life.
-Instead of being about learning to get perfect timing the showing game then becomes to build a strong team of show horses.
-This showing system has proven to be far and again simpler and easier to learn.

I am not at this time considering a conversion of the showing system. I am interested though in getting a feel your thoughts on the issue. You do not need to change any of your KD Games passwords or your Paypal passwords. You may be contacted by other websites with instructions from them. For your saftey follow their instructions about changing passwords. Pay particular instructions from your bank and other financial companies.

This is a good reminder of why you should be using many different passwords, and always use a 100% unique password for your email. Never use your email password more then once.
