I'm back again...help?
-
Hi all! The game has changed a lot since the last time I was really active. I am mostly clueless about the newer additions to the game (Futurities, breed characteristics, etc.). Firmly in a rebuilding phase and trying to decide what I want to do with my own lines this go around.
I'd like to help with the futurity efforts over here on Bluegrass but 99% of my horses have aged out of the game, so I don't have past era horses to breed to others' studs.
Things I do have - Premium subscription and plenty of stall space to keep Futurity locked horses.
What is the best way for me to get involved? -
"so I don't have past era horses to breed to others' studs."
You don't need that. Newly created mares can be bred to stallions of any era., Only the foals need to be the same era as the studs. Not the mares you breed to them.

Welcome back!
I can't help answer many questions about futurity, I've chosen not to get too into it (Yet! I'm planning on it soon!) but I'd be more than happy to answer any questions I do know
Also if you need any DP, Dun, DFP2 or rainbow riot I've got lots of that in my barns and I can send straws, eggs, embryos and possibly part with a few mares if you need any help getting started again!Licenses: Watercolor, Nacre, Splash M, Wrong Warp, Phantom Autumn/Lace/Diamond Sparkle/Web/Hearts/Shamrock/Muddy Puddles/Roses/Critter Tracks/Jellyfish/Birdtracks, Paintbrush Cool, Paintbrush Prism, Plaid, Shatterglass, Inkspot, Toner, Mushroom, DFP2, Onyx, Platinum, Ice 6, Ice 17Thanked by 1DaiteCapaill -
I foyu are thinking about BlueRoan Appies ( or even just Snowflake Appies in general ) I ve got Tons, as well as Livers.. I breed for "Black" liver so they have to be HOM Dp.. otherwise I can send you Het Dp foals as I test my 2 or 3 gen Pastures. I am also somewhat of a "purest" When it comes to Fantasy lines.. I dont cross them with other Fantasy horses.. so if you have a license for some of the "older" Fantasy genes, I may be able to help there..
In regards to Furtity.. as long as the mare is a Higher Era than the stallion, it will work.. so any horses you create now will will be fine as long as you dont breed ExP mares to an Era 19 stallion :)

Nice to see you back again. :) We're still a very friendly community so if you need anything just ask. I tried clicking on your name to see what you might have, but because there is a space in your name it's not possible. I had to take the space out of my stable name for the same reason, otherwise people can't get in touch with you.

Thank you for clarifying @Ammit
I am trying to find the original futurity post explaining everything. I did read the FAQ section. Are we still trying to get foundations entered in the futurities for older eras? For the most recent era, it makes sense to me that lined horses have not aged up enough to be hitting the boards yet, but for older eras I assumed that lined horses have taken over, which seems to be consistent with the awards sent out for the last game year.
Along those lines...I think I made a mistake already by trying to get exceptional HHs. Those would fall in the previous era which I am already not competitive in, being behind multiple generations. Oof. I 5% boosted two rank specials that I really like too (only to B level). I will still use them but they won't be much help for the futurities if I understand this correctly.
I fixed my username, I had no idea @WhiteValley, thanks for letting me know.
Thank you for the generous offers, I really appreciate it. Nice to see some familiar faces. I do have licenses for about 2/3s of the available RGS genes, including all of the Ice genes, axiom, most rainbow riot, DFP, some phantom, etc. I only have one of those foundations left, a clone of my previous Ice 6 stallion and he is getting ready to age out. I will pursue DP/Sooty plus lines again, I had some of the original S+ horses way back when so they have always been a favorite. My main lines were liver chestnuts (snowflake apps and others) and DP bays, usually with cream and dun/DFP plus my fantasy genes. I don't know if I want to do all of that again or start simple this time and actually get my show string going before I try to go crazy with colors.
I have been creating a lot so I am almost at the point cut off already - is there any point to auctioning the low pointed horses to try to create better (higher pointed) ones? I am not currently short on stall space and don't see myself running out of room any time soon, so I'm thinking not really, but I've arguably never played this game correctly and spent a lot of real life money previously. I picked up some higher PT foals from the auction for future show horses because I have so much space and I don't anticipate my lines will reach 13+PT any time soon, though I know they won't be earning much until they age up.
I used to be a stickler for even gens so I've never done the bootstrapping deal - good, bad, ugly? I really want my show string to fund as much as possible so I can spend real money on fun things in the game, but I know it won't happen overnight.
Thank you for the welcome back! And in advance for any advice. -
Trying to make studs for the futrity is probably not a good idea. You would be much better off breeding mares to other people's studs.
Bootstrap breeding is by far the best and fastest way to get a show herd going. Those boosts would be better spent on getting yourself a ***star stud. Send me a PM if you want to do that instead of boosting the foundations.Need to contact me? Read this first.
