How Many Generations
  • I'm getting some lines that are getting up into generation 6+ and I'm curious about everyone's different ways of handling higher generation lines. Are you retiring the line when they reach the cap or a certain point? Are you continuing to breed further generations indefinitely? If you do continue, how are you choosing breeding stock once you can't get Superior foals anymore? I haven't decided what to do with mine so I would love to hear different approaches!

  • Personally, I like to start fresh with a new era once things start to max out. Just let the old line be show horses and make money.

  • 9th gen has been very difficult to get to and they are mostly AGA. This is likely where I'll stop. They can keep producing great show ponies and I won't spend money buying boosts. I can use the hbs on gmts for new foundations for new eras.

  • I ve gotten a few 9g mares testing SUP to Dam, no stud colts tho. Am thinking 10 is going to be cap but I might keep trying since my bootstrap gift stud was 24generations.
