Should I Pasture My Mares Now?

    Is it worth it to pasture my mares right now? Will they still make better foals even if they aren’t in there for a full month? My breeding horses double as my show horses and I can still show them for two weeks before I can pasture breed them again.
    I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!

    depends, do you want to show them more or are you wanting high quality foals to keep? If you're just going to sell/auction the foals it's better to show them and then put them in the pasture on Sunday and then breed them on Saturday so that Sunday you can show them and their foals.

    I put my best papered mares in the pasture, but I always keep a couple from each generation up in the barn. That way I can use embryo transfer to get 2-4 extra foals per breeding season, and they continue to show.
