A Studs and Red Mares
-
If I put a A papered stud in with my Red papered mares in my pasture would I have a good chance of getting intact foals since the pastures give a better chance of getting the higher quality foal (to put it in simpler terms :)) )? I have a stud I'd love to toss in there but I also don't want a lot of snips.
Thanks! -
@paradoxpheonix Thank you! I'm horrible at numbers so let me see if I'm right :)) So, through all the tests obviously having your mares in for 30+ days is best (Which most of mine are at or close to 30 days). The best chance of getting intact based on altered vs. intact (Test 2 and even Test 4) was 100% bred with 100% breeding ability. So I'm guessing that goes with horses further down the generations, if each generation is roughly 5% better then you'd want a match pair. Right? Or am I just being confusing haha

Yeah, the highest level of intact will come from like to like. (C/Yellow, B/Red, A/blue) I’d say that the closest estimate of what percentages of intacts you might get with A/Red with 30 days in pasture would be test 4.

Thank you! That was very helpful! @paradoxpheonix

My 2nd gen stud is an A while most of my 2nd gen mares are Reds. With pasture bonus I ended up with roughly 90% of his foals intact. And the fillies were all Blues, colts were A and most tested superior to sire.

@Wingedeagle I'll have to try that next season, the stud I had in there this season didn't work out too great. I got a lot of really good show ponies but only 2 or 3 for my lines out of 12 mares
