Another should I keep intact question..
-
Sorry for all the questions. I bred a colt I really like, and put him through the regular breeding advice and he came out intact, but papered B whereas his sire is A and his dam is boosted ExPro, but she papered red. I didn't put him through the strict breeding advice in fear that he would be gelded. I plan to either geld him or boost him to hopefully make him paper A. Would it be worth it to save to boost him and then put him through strict advice? I've been having a hard time getting anything intact from his sire, and really like this colt so I was just curious on everyone's thoughts. He is consistent with a 10.7 PT score. Thanks!

Should add he's 2nd gen.

Use comparison testing first, see what it says.

I would say that if he passed regular breeding advice he's probably a pretty high B, so he might comparison test about as good as his sire, so I agree with Stone Silo that the comparison test is a good next step. If he does test AGA, the boosting him might be a good idea.

Ok, thanks!

What SandyCreek said. Comparison test him; if he's about as good as, then boosting him would be a good idea.
Keep in mind though that since he started out a paper level below his sire, boosting him may not push him into the realm of superior breeding quality... but honestly unless you do a lot of breeding from 2nd gens from boosted/double-boosted foundation stock, a 2nd gen A is going to be pretty solid no matter what. -
Thanks for the insight. I did the same breeding again and this time got a colt who passed strict advice and papered A, and is about as good as his sire. Not the liver like his brother, but I have some time to change that and maybe boost him. So his brother will be gelded. Thanks SandyCreek and stone silo for the advice!
Out of about 20 breedings so far to blue papered mares and a couple red, he's the first one who has come out intact.
