What is KP?
  • I haven't been on the forum in well over a year and even before then, I wasn't very active at all. Can someone please explain to me what kit promoter means? I've tried looking for a thread to explain it, but came up with nothing. What does the gene do?
  • I went to the old forum and copied this from Ammit's original post announcing the release of KP:
I have added a new gene to the game Kit Promoter (KP). Like Gulastra Plume Kit Promoter only shows up in specific circumstances. When a horse has two broken copies of kit (That is any combination of DW, Sabino, Roan, or Tobi) and is homozygous for Kit Promoter it causes a cascade failure in the Kit gene resulting in much larger then normal exaggerated white markings.

Like GP, KP will only be found in the GMT lab and will cost the same amount.

    What really makes Kp special?
KP is NOT predrawn. It is 100% procedurally generated using fractals. That means your KP horse will never have the same markings as another KP horse. Every single one will be 100% unique.

Here is a link to a search for examples (although there may be some heterozygous horses who don't express it).

  • Okay, thank you both! I knew it caused the big white shaded spots, but I didn't know what caused it to be expressed. So how can I tell by looking at a horse's genotype whether or not it carries the KP gene?
  • You can't, it's not testable, like GP. The only way to know for sure if a horse has it is if one parent is homozygous or you breed the horse to another KP horse and get a visibly homozygous KP foal.

  • Makes it a bit of a challenge to breed! But they are so pretty it's worth it!
